ABOUT US

Quality & Tradition
The ancient origins of our wines.

The history of the agricultural company is naturally linked to that of the Leopardi counts, a
family with ancient origins. According to tradition, they arrived in Italy from Byzantium with
the Teutonic knights in the mid-4th century AD, first settling in Sicily and then in Rome. One
family member, Leopardo de’ Leopardi, was sent by Pope Innocent I and appointed the first
bishop of Auximum, now Osimo, an ancient town of Picene origin where pagan rites were
prevalent. The bishop succeeded in converting the population but paid for his success with
martyrdom in 405 AD.

The Team

Highly specialized professionals dedicated to crafting wines of the highest quality.

For several years now, the owner of the estate has been Count Piervittorio Leopardi Dittajuti, born in 1958, hailing from a family deeply rooted in agriculture, known for its dedication and professionalism. He joined the family business in the early 1980s, working alongside his father Giuseppe, and immediately began the transformation of the winemaking activity, which was still closely tied to tradition at the time.

Year after year, new vineyards were planted with the goal of producing high-quality grapes. Modern cellars were built, equipped with stainless steel machinery and tools designed to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.

Since 1991, he has been supported by his wife Lidia, who plays an active role in both the management of the estate and its marketing operations.

Since August 2003, the winery has operated under the oenological direction of Dr. Riccardo Cotarella, a world-renowned winemaker.

Production Area

The Territory

The estate is located in the Marche region, in the province of Ancona, nestled in one of the most captivating coastal hill areas overlooking the Adriatic Sea: the Riviera del Conero.

The soil is marl-rich, calcareous, and medium-textured. The unique orographic, geological, and pedoclimatic characteristics of this region have favored viticulture since ancient times, allowing for the production of exceptionally high-quality grapes.

The climate is typically Mediterranean, influenced by the sea and frequent breezes. The region experiences significant temperature variation between day and night, which further enhances grape quality.
